The work Lettura del Morgante is the first complete interpretation, canto by canto, of Luigi Pulci's masterpiece. This two-volume publication, edited by Luca Degl'Innocenti, Franca Strologo and Luca Zipoli, brings together the entire series of twenty-eight readings, accompanied by two cross-cutting essays, with a preface by Stefano Carrai and an introduction by Maria Cristina Cabani. The contributions were written by leading experts in Italian literature from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. The fruitful and generous collaboration among so many scholars has yielded an important reflection not only on the poem, but on its author, his work and his time, which modifies and expands upon the insights offered by previous critical literature and opens up new avenues of inquiry.
